The Incense Route

The Incense Route

The resin that shaped empires.

Frankincense — luban — was once as valuable as gold. The ancient Incense Route, stretching from Oman's Dhofar region through Yemen and across Arabia, was one of the most important trade networks in the ancient world. Our Hojari frankincense is the highest grade, recognizable by its translucent, pale color and complex aromatic profile. Each piece is hand-selected from centuries-old Boswellia sacra trees in the Dhofar mountains, where harvesters make precise incisions in the bark and return weeks later to collect the hardened tears of resin.
