Roses of the Najd

A bloom that appears once in a decade.

Deep in the Najd plateau, where rainfall is measured not in months but in years, a miracle unfolds. After the rarest of desert rains, the Damask rose erupts from the cracked earth. Local harvesters race against the desert sun to collect petals at the precise moment of peak oil concentration — exactly forty-eight hours after first bloom. The distillation process is an ancient alchemy. Copper stills, some over two hundred years old, heat the petals with water from mountain springs. The resulting attar — a few precious milliliters from thousands of blossoms — is a liquid gold that carries the very soul of the desert's most fleeting beauty.
